Carlos Sainz has been in fine form this season and has spectacularly won the Australian Grand Prix for Ferrari. On the other hand, Fernando Alonso has had a slow start to the season and will look forward to performing better for Aston Martin in his upcoming home race in Barcelona.
Fernando Alonso shares realistic predictions ahead of Spanish GP
Fernando Alonso has gone from being a regular amongst the podium spots last season to fighting for points this campaign as Aston Martin has witnessed a steady decline in their performance. Alonso made a realistic prediction ahead of the upcoming race in Barcelona after an honest assessment.
Well, we’ll see. It is difficult to know what can happen, realistically. I suppose between 8th and 12th, which is our natural position this year.Fernando Alonso told Mundo Deportivo
Aston Martin was one of the most competitive teams during the beginning stints of the 2023 season and was in high hopes of challenging Red Bull for the title. But a failure in bringing proper upgrades to the car as well as improper strategies have cost the English team massively in terms of race pace and performance. They currently find themselves fifth in the championship with only 59 points in their name.
Fernando Alonso, however, asserted that it is not of a viable standard to already expect a lower finish in a home race where the fans hope to see good performances. Alonso, therefore, clarified that the veteran Spaniard would be giving it his all to secure the highest possible finish for the team on a racetrack that has been conquered him on two previous occasions.
