Lando Norris has finally achieved the biggest feat in Formula 1 after winning the 2025 driver’s title. Norris experienced multiple ups and downs this year, but he managed to perform well when it mattered most.

The Briton won the title with a mere 2-point lead over Max Verstappen and was very close to ending it all. Now, the 26-year-old’s former teammate and best friend, Carlos Sainz, opens up on how his attitude towards the former will change now that he is a one-time champion.

Carlos Sainz partnered with Lando Norris at McLaren in the past, before moving to Ferrari and now to Williams. The two shared a great bond over the years despite their differences on the track.

Now that Norris has won the title, Sainz is equally delighted and excited for the eighth McLaren champion in history. The Spaniard reckoned that despite the Briton winning the title, he would remain indifferent towards him and keep him in check.

Speaking on Lando Norris’ title win after racing for McLaren for over six years, Carlos Sainz noted that he was very happy for the former. The Spaniard continued that the 26-year-old was much quicker than what people credited him for on track.

Moreover, Sainz recalled that while teaming up with Norris at McLaren, he could see that he possessed speed great enough to be a multiple-time world champion in the near future.

Further, Carlos Sainz firmly stated that Lando Norris wouldn’t change himself or his attitude, especially after achieving one of the greatest feats in Formula 1. Regardless, if Norris starts to go off the rails, Sainz will always be present around him to keep him in check and keep being in his ear. The Spaniard will keep an eye on the one-time champion if he turns into a show-off after winning the 2025 driver’s title.

Obviously very happy for him as a driver. Quicker than people give him credit for. When I was at McLaren I could see the speed he has to be multiple world champion….I don’t think he will change. I will definitely be in his ear if I see he is [turning into] a bit of a show-off!

Carlos Sainz said in a post-race interview.

Carlos Sainz claims Lando Norris “doesn’t need to be a bada*s” to win F1 title

Lando Norris is certainly one of the more contrasting personalities on the F1 grid. Despite his on-track dominance, he has been egged on by the crowd in multiple races. However, Norris did not change himself or his approach come race day. As such, Carlos Sainz is even more delighted that his former teammate not only won the title but also stayed true to himself in the process.

Carlos Sainz pointed out that Lando Norris’ 2025 title win meant that he proved to everyone that a driver did not need to be a ‘bada*s’ to dominate the rivals on track. Sainz explained that the 26-year-old was just a nice and open person who did not want to engage in heated rivalries with other drivers on track.

He (Lando) has proven that you don’t need to be a bad ass, just a nice open guy.

Carlos Sainz added.

The 2025 season is now officially in the wraps, and it marks the end of the ground-effect era. These regulations have been extremely positive for some while completely disappointing for many others. Regardless of what others have suffered this year, Lando Norris has certainly achieved a great feat this year.
