Scuderia Ferrari shocked the sporting world by signing seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. However, this meant that Carlos Sainz would lose his place at Maranello to make way for the British star. Nevertheless, Sainz remains determined on ending his journey with the Scuderia on a high.

The Spanish driver revealed that the first target on his list is to win a race with Ferrari at least one more time before moving to Williams next year. Carlos Sainz‘s last race victory was at the Australian GP earlier this year. However, Sainz clarified that the reason for this aim was not because of his exit. Rather, the 30-year-old always drives to win.

Obviously, first on my list is trying to win at least one more time with Ferrari before I leave. It’s in my head, not because I’m going to go to the end of the year with Ferrari, but because I always try to win all the races I go to.

Moreover, the Ferrari driver highlighted that almost a third of the 2024 season was remaining with six races to go. Carlos Sainz even pointed out that three of the six rounds will be Sprint weekends. As such, the Spaniard will be analyzing things on a race-by-race basis.

Let’s see. At the same time, there is still a third of the season left. It’s actually a lot if you think about it, and there are three Sprints left, a lot of season ahead, so let’s go race by race.

Carlos Sainz asserts Ferrari ‘needs’ to show progress

Sainz claimed that the Scuderia will be trying to fight for victory in the coming races. The 30-year-old emphasized that the team will need to show progress on conventional tracks such as Brazil and Austin (US GP). If Maranello does manage to have good pace at such tracks, only then can Carlos Sainz have a real shot at winning a race again.

We will try. I think we also have to show progress in other types of circuits such as Brazil, Austin, Qatar and Abu Dhabi, which are more normal circuits. If we show progress there I think we could have a chance.

Carlos Sainz noted

Certainly, Carlos Sainz wants to stand on the top step of the podium for Ferrari once again before he leaves Maranello. Leaving Ferrari is emotional for any driver and as such Sainz would like to soak in all special moments he can have with his team till the end of the year.
