Charles Leclerc, the Ferrari F1 driver, is in an upbeat mood ahead of the Canadian GP. Since his recent triumph in Monaco, he has been in high spirits, and ahead of today’s FP1 and FP2 sessions, he has taken the time to talk about his 2024 objectives.

Several people in the paddock are aware of the capabilities of Charles Leclerc as a racing driver. He has been performing really well this year and is only 31 points behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the Drivers Championship.

Keeping this at the back of his mind, Leclerc had the following to say during Thursday’s drivers’ commitments at the Montreal paddock.

I want to become a world champion, and therefore we need to concentrate on the rest and everything that is missing to do it. Here in Canada, I want to do the same job again what we did in Monaco. Monaco was a very favorable track, we have to take the same approach.
Charles Leclerc said in an interview with Gazetta.it

Looking at the strong reaction of the Monegasque driver, it is quite clear that he’s gonna go after Verstappen with all his might. The latter has been competing in F1 since 2018 but is yet to amass his maiden world championship.

Leclerc has so far managed to amass 138 points in the standings with five podiums and one win.

It's difficult to say now, we have to keep the same approach, Red Bull is always the reference, Imola, Monaco, and this track should be favorable, we have to take. every opportunity, we hope to stay ahead of them. I'm not thinking about the championship, but about winning races in every GP and to improve.
Charles Leclerc said in the same interview

The ongoing ground-effect era has been dominated by Red Bull. Max Verstappen and co. have already amassed two world championships under the current regulations, but things are different this year.

Ferrari and McLaren are on the rise and thus, a three-way title fight is shaping up at the front end of the grid. From Leclerc’s point of view, it will be immensely important to back up his Monaco triumph with a victory in Canada to further close up the gap to Verstappen.
