How did Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc ‘miraculously recover’ in Monza?

Moreover, it came as a bit of a shock to Sainz.

I think it was more or less 10, or 15 laps into the second stint that I realized the deg was not huge on the hard. Then as soon as the others stopped, actually, my tyres were almost gone. And then, for some reason, I think Charles and I went through a phase of high deg on the hards, and then they miraculously recovered, and that’s what allowed us to go to the end.

With Leclerc’s Grand Italian GP triumph, the Ferrari Formula 1 team is well and truly back in the 2024 Constructors Championship picture. As things stand, the tussle for the coveted title is a three-horse race between Ferrari, Red Bull, and the Woking-based McLaren.

From the Maranello-based team’s perspective, managing a consistent run from Baku onwards will be extremely important. They will need to be in the top positions as often as possible to close the gap to the rival teams progressively.
