The 2025 season has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride for Max Verstappen at Red Bull. The Dutchman started the season with a decent pace and picked up two race victories early on. But then he suffered from a drastic slump till the summer break. Now that the 27-year-old looks to be back in the mix for the driver’s title, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc warns McLaren from writing off the former too soon.

Max Verstappen came back from the summer break and started to score great results. The Dutchman is currently on a two-race win streak and can potentially carry it forward. Following the recent dominance, Verstappen is now just 69 points adrift of the championship leader Oscar Piastri. As such, Charles Leclerc talked highly about the reigning world champion and his chances to succeed down the line.

Charles Leclerc asserted that Max Verstappen was not leaving anything on the table that McLaren could grab and take advantage of. Leclerc reckoned that Red Bull had taken a massive step forward in terms of pace and performance and was now very much competitive compared to recent woes. The Monegasque insisted that Milton Keynes was at a very strong level, one that could help them keep contending for race wins at the forefront.

I think Max is not leaving anything on the table, that’s for sure, I think they’ve done a big step forward with the car, and they are now at a very strong level as well.

Charles Leclerc said, as reported by RacingNews365.

Moreover, Charles Leclerc recalled the recent couple of weekends from McLaren and how they weren’t very good as per their standards. Oscar Piastri suffered from a DNF in Baku, while Lando Norris could only finish in P7. However, Leclerc did acknowledge that Red Bull was far from dominating the rivals on the grid, despite having a positive trend in performance.

I don’t think that it’s been a very smooth weekend for McLaren in the last two races. So, I don’t think that Red Bull is now dominating again.

Charles Leclerc added.

Max Verstappen doing a ‘better job’ as compared to the rivals

Max Verstappen is not overconfident in his chances to emerge victorious in the driver’s title this year yet. The 2025 season still has seven races pending, and anything can happen in the final stages of the season. Charles Leclerc believes that the competition will only build from this point forward and potentially come even closer between the leading pack and Max Verstappen right behind them.

Charles Leclerc declared that the competition and the driver’s title battle seemed to be very close between McLaren and Red Bull. However, the Monegasque emphasized that Max Verstappen was doing a better job at the moment and could go on to win the driver’s title this year. For now, Verstappen aims to take the season race-by-race and not let silly errors ruin his championship chances against the McLarens.

I think it’s very close between McLaren and Red Bull, but Max is doing a better job at the moment.

Charles Leclerc noted.

Red Bull still has a long way to go in order to return to their championship-winning ways. Although Max Verstappen is giving it his all, trying to score the best results possible, it is still bound to be very difficult for him against McLaren. Now, time will tell if the reigning world champion manages to lift his fifth driver’s title this season or not.
