Max Verstappen and Lando Norris are competing against one another for the 2024 F1 world championship. However, this fierce rivalry has opened the door for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque driver is happy to see the two take points off one another.
At the Mexican GP, Verstappen was handed two 10-second penalties for his aggressive driving against Norris. Charles Leclerc insisted that he was happy to see the two battle it out. As Leclerc has the most to gain from such on-track incidents.
I’m glad that Max is as aggressive as possible towards Lando because this helps me.
Charles Leclerc said, as reported by FormulaPassion.it
The Monegasque driver pointed out that he will be able to close the gap to Lando Norris in the championship if the two drivers have more conflicts. Charles Leclerc was convinced that he still has a shot at the world title this year. Presently, Leclerc trails behind championship-leader Max Verstappen by 71 points.
[It] gives me the chance to be closer to Lando in the Drivers’ championship, because for me, that’s still a fight.

Charles Leclerc focusing on one race at a time despite title prospects
Leclerc aims to try and win the 2024 F1 title. However, the Ferrari driver is focusing on one weekend at a time. Charles Leclerc pointed out that the championship was not under his control considering Verstappen’s significant lead. As even if the Monegasque wins the last four races, Verstappen would only need a few point-finishes to take the title.

You have to focus on race by race. It is not under my control whether or not I can win the Drivers’ Championship… even if I had to win all the races, Max would need to have very few weekends and I don’t rely on that.
Charles Leclerc explained
Certainly, the 27-year-old remains hopeful of having an outside chance of becoming the 2024 F1 world champion. However, this might seem unlikely due to his large points deficit. Nevertheless, Leclerc would be hoping to bag a couple more victories for the Scuderia in the last four races.
