Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are one of the most dynamic duos on the current Formula 1 grid. Sainz is set to part ways with the Maranello-based team to join Williams Racing on a multi-year deal in 2025.
Carlos Sainz has been a selfless performer for Ferrari ever since his arrival at the start of the 2021 season. The talented Spaniard has secured three wins and 21 podiums so far. However, Sainz was denied a contract extension by the Italian outfit, which signed Lewis Hamilton as his replacement.
Charles Leclerc has since shed light on his relationship with the 29-year-old ahead of Lewis Hamilton‘s arrival next year. Leclerc has reminisced about the good moments with Sainz over the years and his willingness to end the ongoing campaign on a high with him.
We’ve had a perfect relationship [and] everything went really well. And I truly wish him the best. I hope that we can finish this season on a high, both for Ferrari and together with Carlos — we all want that.Charles Leclerc via RollingStone
The Ferrari duo have collectively amassed 370 points, with one win each to their name this season. Both Leclerc and Sainz will be looking to deliver their best performances in the team’s home race in Monza this week.
Charles Leclerc not optimistic regarding Ferrari’s chances at Italian GP
Ferrari has shown a declining trend in their performances ever since their extravagant win at Monaco this year. While the team recovered some of their lost pace over the past few races, Charles Leclerc has a realistic view on his expectations ahead of Monza.
I don't let the last two races change our expectations. We are in a difficult moment for the team. We are struggling a little bit with pace at the moment. Here, it should be a bit more in the direction of Spa, so hopefully we'll be a bit more in the fight for the podium. However, for the win, I don't think we quite have that yet.Charles Leclerc via Formula1
Leclerc appeared a bit dejected about SF-24’s chances of being the fastest around the temple of speed. But the Monegasque was confident about the team’s hopes of finishing in the top three slots at their home race.
The Maranello-based team will bring new upgrades on their challenger at the Italian Grand Prix. With hopes of finding greater pace around the traditional circuit, Ferrari will ideally want to amass a Grand Prix win.
