Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has shared his thoughts on the title battle this season. McLaren’s Lando Norris, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, and Leclerc are the main contenders for the drivers’ championship this year.

Charles Leclerc has been in fine form for the Maranello-based team ever since the resumption after the summer break. Leclerc raced marvelously to win the United States GP a few weeks back. While Lando Norris and Max Verstappen have battled each other, Leclerc has been the one to deliver good runs.

The 27-year-old is however realistic of his chances in the drivers’ championship. He claims that the only way in which he can win the title is if the others perform poorly and not by his sole performances.

It relies on us doing well more than others doing something wrong, which I’ve often said is probably the case for the Drivers’ Championship. For the Drivers’ Championship I need to do everything right and I need a lot of bad luck to happen elsewhere. So the Constructors’ is definitely our main target and if we continue in that form it’s a realistic one.

Leclerc has therefore claimed that the team’s focus lies more towards winning the constructors’ championship. He will hence seek to play the team game rather than a personal one to ascertain silverware this season.

Ex-world champion criticizes Max Verstappen after Mexican GP incident

Max Verstappen was reprimanded for blocking and pushing off Lando Norris during the initial stages of the race in Mexico. Verstappen finished P6 in the race after serving a 20-second time penalty for his deeds.

They say that sport doesn’t build character, it shows character, and his default is to revert to preventative methods rather than trying to keep it within the bounds of fairness. You shouldn’t be allowed to use your car as a weapon and simply block the track.

Damon Hill said on the SkySports F1 podcast

Former British driver Damon Hill has since critiqued Verstappen’s approach while racing in Formula 1. Hill states that the 27-year-old should not be allowed to use his car as a weapon while fending off other rivals.

Damon Hill further stated that a driver’s style of racing shows their character on track. He finally concluded by saying that Verstappen looks to prevent a move from others rather than defending it with fairness.
