Max Verstappen is arguably the biggest name in Formula 1 at the moment. It is thus no surprise that rival teams including Mercedes have expressed interest in poaching the Dutchman. Now, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has insisted that Toto Wolff was not actually interested in getting the four-time world champion.
Last year, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff mentioned that Verstappen’s switch to the Silver Arrows had to happen. Moreover, the Brackley-based squad doubled down on the rumors and hinted that the team wants to sign Max Verstappen for 2026.
Christian Horner recalled to the ‘noise’ surrounding Wolff’s comments over Max Verstappen. The Red Bull team boss asserted that when things are actually serious, they are done behind the scenes, rather than speaking through the media in the paddock.
Max Verstappen’s ‘absolute commitment’ to Red Bull
The reigning world champion has silenced rumors regarding a switch so far. Christian Horner emphasized that Verstappen loves to work at Milton Keynes. Moreover, the Briton pointed out that the 27-year-old has given absolute commitment to Red Bull so far, which would likely continue. The Dutch driver’s current contract extends till the end of 2028.
Max Verstappen seems content at Red Bull for the time being. The Dutch driver will wait for the start of the 2025 season to further consider his future prospects. If the Austrian team struggles to match rivals in the coming months, he can potentially look at his future options.
