The 2024 F1 world championship has witnessed an exciting battle between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. The two title contenders have made some controversial moves with the Dutchman being the culprit in Mexico. However, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner asserts that his team would not raise a right to review against Verstappen’s penalty.
A right to review allows a team to appeal a penalty given to its driver. Although, a team must have new evidence for such a review to be accepted. McLaren’s appeal for a right to review over Lando Norris’ US GP penalty was dismissed for the lack of new information.
Christian Horner made it clear that Red Bull will not use its right to review over Max Verstappen‘s two time penalties from the Mexican GP. Rather, the Briton wanted to move forward and determine how Verstappen and Norris will compete against one another for the last four races.
Christian Horner claims Max Verstappen will ‘always be aggressive’
Critics slammed Max Verstappen’s aggressive maneuver on Norris in Mexico. The Dutchman ruined his race as he could only finish in sixth after the two 10-second penalties. However, Horner has admitted that Verstappen will continue to drive aggressively despite the fallout last weekend. The Red Bull team boss was concerned that F1 might be overcomplicating the penalty situation this year.
With four races to go, Max Verstappen will be pushing himself to the limit to defend the F1 world title. The 27-year-old has a lead of 47 points to Norris, putting him in prime position. However, a single DNF could turn things around completely in this close battle. As such, it remains to be seen how things pan out for the two rivals in Brazil this weekend.
