Red Bull Racing failed to win the F1 Constructors’ world title for the first time since 2021. The reigning world champions were defeated by McLaren’s stellar campaign this year. Nevertheless, Christian Horner has now highlighted the one positive aspect for Milton Keynes.

As per the current F1 regulations, teams get a limited duration of wind-tunnel and CFD time. This depends on the finishing position, with the team at bottom of the standing receiving the highest. Subsequently, for 2025, Red Bull will have more time for aero-testing compared to McLaren and runners-up Ferrari.

Christian Horner mentioned that Red Bull hate to finish third in the standings this year. However, the Briton admitted that the extra time in the wind-tunnel was the only upside. Horner mentioned that could pay dividends for Milton Keynes ahead of the radical 2026 rule changes.

We hate finishing third in the championship, but the additional wind tunnel time that comes with that is the only upside in a year where there is such a dramatic regulatory change.

Christian Horner labels McLaren ‘deserving’ of 2024 title

McLaren finally sealed the Constructors’ title at the Abu Dhabi GP. Lando Norris‘ victory ensured that Woking would break its 26-year drought for the teams’ championship. Christian Horner emphasized that the British team deserved to claim the title. He noted that both Norris and Oscar Piastri had been incredible throughout the course of 2024.

They’ve [McLaren] been outstanding this year. They’ve had two drivers that have performed extremely well and were deserving victors in the end.

Christian Horner and Red Bull will need to bounce back next season. The Austrian team would be looking to overcome this set back and win the Constructors’ title yet again. It remains to be seen if the extra wind-tunnel time does have an impact in Milton Keynes’ performance compared to McLaren.
