Lando Norris has started to showcase one of the greatest if not the best performance in the 2024 season. The Briton has continued to score impressive results despite Red Bull’s dominant start. Additionally, the 24-year-old has found his way to the runner-up spot in the drivers’ championship as he starts to inch closer towards Max Verstappen in the standings. The Ex-F1 driver, Damon Hill applauded Norris over his performances in the season.

Lando Norris had silenced his critics after scoring his maiden victory at the Miami GP. Damon Hill reckoned that Norris was keen to silence his critics about him not winning a race. Additionally, the 63-year-old noted that the world is surrounded by criticism on social media and thus, there wasn’t a thing that one could do and not be criticized for it.

Lando was keen to silence his critics, who wanted to make an issue of him not having won, I mean, we're surrounded by criticism today with social media. There isn't a thing you can do that doesn't get criticised in some way, and you mustn't get let that get to you.
Damon Hill said on the JAonF1 podcast (H&T: autosport.com).

However, Norris didn’t want to be defined by the people who used to diminish his performances. Hence, the 24-year-old came up with the best solution for winning a race. Hill pointed out that due to this, his critics had no further answer to the situation.

You don't want to be defined by people who are determined to diminish you. So he did respond to that. And now they can't answer it.
Damon Hill noted.

Damon Hill claims Lando Norris needs ‘more’ than just a fast car to beat Max Verstappen

Lando Norris is close to replicating Max Verstappen‘s performance in the season. However, the Dutchman is too good at driving in the world’s fastest one-seater. Hence, as per Hill, it will take a lot more to defeat Verstappen than just a fast car.

McLaren proceeded the season by upgrading the MCL38 chassis to be the fastest machinery on the grid. Regardless, Hill mentioned that Norris’ challenger was good but not better than Red Bull’s. Hence, this meant that the Briton required a bit more than the fastest car to reduce the deficit to Max Verstappen in the season.

What would it take for someone like Lando or George? They need the car. You could argue that Lando's got the car now; I don't think it's better than the Red Bull, but I think it's possibly as good. He's going to need a bit more than that, I think from the car to be able to reduce the deficit to Max and stop Max winning.
Damon Hill added.

Lando Norris will continue to showcase his hard racing against Verstappen in the 2024 season. The two drivers could put forth a great championship battle towards the end. Additionally, the rivalry between the two drivers would be great to witness for the fans and the sport.
