Daniel Ricciardo has become a bubbling topic in the F1 paddock since the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix. Many believe that it was his last race in the sport and while this is going on, he has also been in the limelight for his fastest-lap antics.

McLaren’s Lando Norris had the fastest lap during the closing stages until RB brought Daniel Ricciardo into the pits for a switch to soft tires. This allowed the latter to snatch away the fastest lap point from Norris, and get a bonus for the same.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner has made it known that Red Bull had no part in bringing Ricciardo into the pits. It was solely the decision of RB (the sister team of Red Bull).

Racing Bulls [RB] stopped and did the fastest lap at the end of the race. There’s nothing more to it than that. It’s always going to get raised because it’s the same ownership, so it’s inevitable that question’s going to get raised. Remember, he [Ricciardo] gets paid a bonus on a fastest lap.

Looking at the strong reaction of Horner, he has left no stone unturned in making it clear that his team had nothing to do with Ricciardo’s fastest lap. The topic is being highly debated because of the delicate situation in the F1 driver’s championship between Norris and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

Christian Horner expecting a ‘fight until the end’ of 2024

While Christian Horner has tried his best to keep Red Bull out of the Ricciardo fastest-lap saga, his full focus is on the task at hand in the Championship. As things stand, Norris is only 52 points behind Verstappen in the standings.

Whereas in the constructors’ Horner and Co. are 41 points adrift of McLaren.

I think that we're gonna fight all the way to the end of the championship. We’re 52 points ahead with six races to go. But a lot of races, a lot of points on the board. There’s a lot of racing still to happen, and we'll be fighting hard through the next triple header. And then the final triple-header after that.

The 2024 F1 season is most definitely going to produce fireworks in the remaining six races. From Austin onwards, every race will be a must-see event where all the top outfits will go gung-ho in their attempt to outperform the other.

From Red Bull’s point of view, their main goal will be to keep Verstappen in front of Norris in the driver’s championship. If it would be possible, they will certainly have a solid crack at the constructors’ title as well.
