Visa Cash App RB driver Daniel Ricciardo was overcome with emotions during his interview after the Singapore Grand Prix. Ricciardo finished P18 at Marina Bay, failing to improve on his poor form this season.

Daniel Ricciardo is one of the most talented drivers on the current Formula 1 grid. With eight race victories to his name, the Australian has made his mark with the teams of Red Bull, McLaren, and Renault in the past.

Ricciardo therefore was shaky and emotional after the race on Sunday as rumors emerged of him getting sacked after the race. While no solid verdict has yet been delivered by RB, the 35-year-old could inevitably lose his seat given his prolonged run of bad results.

Ricciardo has been longing for a return to Red Bull ever since leaving it in 2018. the Milton-Keynes-based team reignited the possibility of signing him if he improved his performance. However, the 35-year-old has failed to make any significant increments for which he no longer stands a valid chance.

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen currently leads the drivers’ championship by 52 points to second-placed Lando Norris. Norris closed the gap to Verstappen by securing the win in Marina Bay but the former was denied an extra point by none other than Daniel Ricciardo.

Then at the end, we were there, not really in any position. So, we tried to go for the fastest lap, and I guess, it helped maybe Max out by Abu Dhabi. So, yeah, maybe there is a Christmas present coming, if he wins by a point.

Ricciardo selflessly secured the fastest lap in order to help his former teammate and friend Max Verstappen in the drivers’ championship. The Australian hopes that his efforts to steal a single point from Lando Norris might tip the scales in favor of Verstappen.

Norris now has five races to overtake the Dutchman in the championship. The upcoming races will therefore be of utmost importance as they try to amass maximum points.
