The eight-time race winner, Daniel Ricciardo was mercilessly bashed by former F1 driver, Jacques Villeneuve during the ongoing Canadian GP weekend. The latter even questioned as to why Ricciardo was still in F1, and while this made immense noise, the RB driver has come up with a strong response, firstly on track and then via the post-qualifying interviews.
During the recently concluded qualifying session, Daniel Ricciardo was absolutely flying in his VCARB 01. He was on it from the get-go and thus, was able to manage a brilliant fifth-place starting position in Q3.

His best lap during the final part of qualifying was an impressive 1:12:178. Moreover, after the session, Ricciardo was reminded of Villeneuve’s comments, and the former had the following to add.
I won't give him the time of day. I've been quick all weekend. Less than two tenths from pole. So, eat sh*t.Daniel Ricciardo said in his post qualifying interview

Daniel Ricciardo wants to get the ‘best out of himself’ in Canadian GP
While Ricciardo has not held back from coming up with strong remarks around Villenuve’s comments, he is now looking forward to the main 70-lap Canadian GP. He understands the task he has in front of him starting from P5 around the lights of Max Verstappen and George Russell.

Ricciardo missed out on pole by an extremely small margin of +0.178.
Tomorrow, we start in a good spot inside the top 5, with some good front-running guys around me, so I’ll get the best out of myself during the race.Daniel Ricciardo said in the same interview
The Australian has proved second best against Yuki Tsunoda during the ongoing 2024 F1 season. He has only amassed five points in comparison to his teammate’s 19 for RB.
