Former World champion Nigel Mansell has shared his thoughts on McLaren driver Lando Norris‘ current form. Norris stands second in the 2024 drivers’ championship, 52 points behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
Lando Norris has been in formidable form since his triumph at Miami earlier this year. Despite notching a total of 279 points, Norris has committed some blunders that have cost him heavily in the fierce title race.

Nigel Mansell has since cited the incident between the Brit and Max Verstappen at the Austrian GP as a blunder on the former’s behalf. The two leading drivers collided during the closing stages at Spielberg, which cost them a potential win.
The howler of a mistake in Austria that Lando made was basically 25, 26 points, so you can argue all sorts of different things. I think McLaren has acted incredibly professionally for both drivers. They’ve done a stunning job for them and they’re to be congratulated.
Nigel Mansell told Top OffshoreSportsbooks
Norris’ collision forced him to retire from the race, while Verstappen finished in fifth place. Mansell claims that the 24-year-old’s result at Spielberg could have been pivotal in terms of his tally in the drivers’ title chase.
Lando Norris praises Andrea Stella for McLaren’s management
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella‘s genius has propelled his team to the top of the constructors’ title charts in 2024. Lando Norris has since praised the Italian, stating some qualities of the Papayas’ boss.

Very, very good, and I probably wouldn’t ask for anyone else to have his job and make these kinds of decisions. From all the people that I’ve known and worked with, I think Andrea is one of the most integral parts of keeping a team together, motivating the team, pushing the team, making the team what it is today, which is close to being the best team in Formula 1 at the minute.

Norris has applauded Andrea Stella for motivating and pushing the Woking-based team. The 24-year-old claimed that the Italian has imbibed a sense of honesty between the team members of McLaren as well.
The Brit ideally requires a win in all the last six races to dethrone Verstappen and win the coveted driver’s championship. The Papayas’ current form will boost his confidence as Formula 1 returns to action in three weeks at Austin.
