Since taking office in 2021, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been scrutinized for his questionable decisions. With the regulatory body passing controversial statute changes recently, fingers have been pointed at the FIA. Former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan has called out the 63-year-old to control the overwhelming situation.
FIA’s respect in the motorsport world has faced several questions over the 2024 season. With Max Verstappen‘s swearing saga leading to an outburst among racing fans. This further worsened the FIA’s stature in the racing world, which was further not helped by Mohammed Ben Sulayem‘s tainting the governing body’s integrity.
Witnessing this, Eddie Jordan slammed the Emirati for how carelessly he has handled the sensitive status of the FIA. He further urged him to get things under control as people’s faith has been running at an all-time low in the history of the organization.
Moreover, Jordan further acknowledged how his criticism against Sulayem might earn him a ban from attending any races in the future.
Eddie Jordan reckoned that Max Verstappen could have blocked off Carlos Sainz’s move to Red Bull
On the other hand, the F1 world would observe major driver transfers over the winter break. Out of which the breakup of Ferrari and Carlos Sainz has been looked up to with raised eyebrows as the Spaniard leaves Maranello with his head held up high. However, the lack of interest from top teams could be down to his former teammate’s influence as Jordan explained.
The former team principal looked at how Red Bull needed a driver that would bring in the results amidst Sergio Perez‘s subpar form. Sainz would have been the perfect driver for the job, but he would have been blocked off by the reigning champion to have the upper hand in the intra-team dynamics.
However, the 30-year-old is now headed to the Grove-based team for the next two years. He would like to build up the team from its dismal 2024.
Thus, despite Jordan’s discontent with the Dutchman for acting as a roadblock in Sainz’s chance at Red Bull, the latter is interested in building his empire at Williams. Also, bringing the English team back to winning ways and leading the project for the upcoming years.
