Max Verstappen emerged as one of the best drivers on the 2025 F1 grid despite driving in a relatively slower challenger. The Dutchman achieved the most amount of race wins and lost out on the driver’s title by just two points to Lando Norris.

Now, Verstappen will work hard and aim to start the 2026 season dominantly and keep leading the title charge. However, ex-F1 steward Johnny Herbert reckons that all drivers should fear the four-time champion in the 2027 season.

The 2026 season will run under new regulations, as none of the teams are believed to be the clear favorite. Red Bull will partner with Ford to create the power units, even though they might face massive challenges.

Max Verstappen will continue racing for Milton Keynes no matter the difficulties. However, if the team fails miserably under the new regulations, Verstappen will surely look at his options with the rival teams.

Any team would be more than ready to take Max Verstappen in their squad by the 2027 season if he decides to leave Red Bull for another team. As such, Johnny Herbert believes that every driver on the grid should ‘fear’ Verstappen in the 2027 season. The Dutchman can take anyone’s seat at any team on the grid under the new regulations.

Johnny Herbert boldly claimed that Verstappen would go for the ‘big seats’ in rival teams unless Red Bull nailed the regulations. He noted that this was the Dutchman’s ‘power’, which he gained because of his dominant results in Formula 1. Herbert highlighted that other drivers on the grid will ‘fear’ this situation as they can be snubbed from their team to make way for the four-time champion.

Every single driver on that grid should be worried about their seat for 2027, Because Max [Verstappen] is going to be going for one of those big seats unless Red Bull absolutely do an amazing job next season. That’s the power that Max has. He has this massive ability to make people look in their mirrors when he’s coming through the pack. That is going to be something that the drivers will once again fear.

Johnny Herbert told NewbettingSites.uk.

Johnny Herbert predicts ‘many more’ championship wins for Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen has been in Formula 1 for almost a decade now and has won four driver’s titles. If the Dutchman decides to continue racing for the coming decade, he will surely break many records in the pinnacle of motorsport. Though Verstappen barely missed out on the title win in 2025 by just two points, Johnny Herbert predicts that the four-time champion will win many more titles in the coming years.

Johnny Herbert raised a guarantee on the fact that there would be one, two, or maybe even three or four world championship wins for Max Verstappen in the near future. Further, Herbert asserted that the 28-year-old would be the dictator of the driver’s market in the upcoming years. Moreover, the ex-FIA steward highlighted that the four-time champion would use his intimidation to gain a seat in any team on the grid.

It’s a guarantee for me there’s going to be another one, two or maybe even three or four world championships coming in. He’s the guy that can pick and chose and is the dictator of the driver market. He intimidates you and the intimidation is something he’s still going to use when he gets to the point where he’s going to pick and choose where he wants to go.

Johnny Herbert noted.

The new regulations will be a massive challenge for all of the teams, Red Bull included. Regardless of the struggles, Max Verstappen will certainly remain a dominant force and maximize results as much as possible. For now, the Dutchman will enjoy the off-season with his family and hopes to return to the grid and keep up with the positive momentum he had built in the final races of the 2025 season.
