Former F1 driver Marc Surer has praised Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz for his skills in Formula 1. The 30-year-old driver is set to join Williams Racing in 2025 after spending four seasons with the Maranello-based team.

Carlos Sainz has been in fine form this season, winning the races of Australia and Mexico. The Spaniard, who has been tireless for Ferrari this year, has earlier raced for Toro Rosso and McLaren, proving his competence on all fronts.

Surer has cited Sainz’s advantage over the other drivers in terms of adaptability. He believes that the four-time race winner can perform on track regardless of the team and the car he drives.

Sainz has an advantage over others, who are only fast when the car is good. Sainz—unlike current teammate Leclerc—has the gift of adapting to any F1 car. Leclerc is hugely fast, but only if the car gives him that opportunity.

Sainz heads into the last three races of the season, hoping to make bigger advances on his winning tallies. The 30-year-old will now try to make his best efforts, hoping to finish his era with the Maranello-based team on top.

Carlos Sainz defends relationship with Max Verstappen amidst botched Red Bull move

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz were teammates at the start of their career in Toro Rosso (RB). Both drivers fought valiantly for promotion to the main team, which ended in Sainz joining Renault in 2017.

Speculations surfaced when Sainz agreed to join Williams in 2025 as rumors linked him to Red Bull and Mercedes. While some thought that the 30-year-old disagreed to race alongside Max Verstappen, the former’s thoughts said otherwise.

I think I would get along well with him. We were 16 and 19 years old back then. We’ve matured a lot since then. So if my relationship with Max was the reason why I didn’t end up there, then I would say that there would have been no problems. If the decision depended solely on that, then it would simply be wrong. But I’ve already told them that.

The Spaniard claims to have had a good bond with the Dutchman ever since their early days in Formula 1. He thereafter said that his decision to join the Grove-based team was willful and resonable in light of the rumors.
