Lewis Hamilton has not had the best of times in Formula 1 since the end of the turbo-hybrid era. The 2024 season has proved incredibly tough as well and this has led the critics to question Hamilton’s effectiveness in the sport.

However, amidst the incessant noise around Lewis Hamilton, Ex-F1 driver David Coulthard has backed the seven-time world champion. Moreover, he has wholeheartedly slammed the critics for their negative remarks about Hamilton.

Lewis is the most influential driver in the history of the sport in terms of what he’s done. And anyone who denies his greatness is delusional. In a data-driven business, the data supports him being the greatest Formula 1 driver in the history of the sport.

Looking at the reaction of Coulthard, he has left no stone unturned in bashing Hamilton’s naysayers. The latter, despite his struggles, has managed to amass two sensational Grand Prix wins in the 2024 season before moving to Ferrari from 2025 onwards.

Drivers ‘dream about’ having an F1 career like Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton has been competing at the pinnacle of motor racing since 2007. He has had a legendary racing career. While he has not been up to his sublime best in recent years, David Coulthard further feels that all the drivers dream about having a career like the 39-year-old.

But Lewis’ legacy as a grand prix driver, as a winning machine, as a World Champion, is one you dream about for your son or daughter. He would make any parent proud.

As mentioned earlier, Hamilton will move the Maranello-based Ferrari F1 team from 2025 onwards. Despite being 39, he is extremely hungry to amass more success, and one of the main reasons behind his move to the Italian team is to secure the record-breaking eighth world championship.

Mercedes has not been up to mark in the ground-effect era and Hamilton believes his chances of amassing an eighth could improve at Ferrari. The Fred Vasseur-led outfit has been on the rise and this has allowed them to be in the constructors’ fight until the end of the 2024 season.

In the ongoing Abu Dhabi race weekend, the seven-time world champion will be focused on doing the perfect job for Mercedes. But, he might also keep a slight eye on how Ferrari’s tussle would pan out against the superfast McLarens.
