Sergio Perez‘s days on the Red Bull Formula 1 team are most probably numbered. He has been in horrendous form during the ongoing season and amidst the incessant sacking rumors, Ex-F1 driver Martin Donnelly has suggested the Austrian outfit to go after Carlos sainz.

The Spaniard has signed a multi-year deal from 2025 onwards at Williams. However, despite this, Martin Donnelly wants Christian Horner and Co. to go after the four-time Grand Prix winner.

Donnelly has asserted that Carlos Sainz has an exit clause in his Williams deal that will allow the latter to move incase Red Bull comes up with an offer.

Sainz has the experience. He has a clause in his contract to get out of it and move if one of the big teams, like Red Bull or Mercedes, wants him.

Looking at the reaction of the Ex-F1 driver, it is quite clear that he really wants Red Bull to sack Sergio Perez in favor of Sainz. Interestingly, the 30-year-old driver has previously raced for Red Bull’s junior team RB when it was called Toro Rosso back in the day.

Carlos Sainz could play a major role in developing Red Bull’ 2025 challenger

While Carlos Sainz has been backed by Donnelly for a 2025 birth at Red Bull, he also feels that if the Austrian outfit goes for Sainz, it will prove rewarding. Sainz is one of the most prolific drivers on the modern F1 grid.

If I’m looking for a driver and I want my car to develop well, I would go for him. For Red Bull it’s important to score consistently in the constructors’ championship, because Perez lets them down in that respect.

Red Bull has fallen to third place in the 2024 constructors’ championship because of Sergio Perez. His teammate Max Verstappen has single-handedly carried the outfit in both world championships.

As things stand, Perez has managed to amass only 151 points in comparison to Verstappen’s 393. Moreover, the former has not scored even a single Grand Prix win during the ongoing campaign, leading pundits to further question his place on a heavy hitter like Red Bull.

Keeping in view everything that has been discussed, Sainz will be the perfect choice for the Christian Horner-led team. In the upcoming weeks, rumors could potentially swirl about Red Bull exploring the exit clause in Sainz’s contract.
