Red Bull’s rumored second driver curse seemingly stays true as Yuki Tsunoda seems to struggle to perform well. Sergio Perez was fired from the team amidst failing performances and replaced by Liam Lawson in 2025, only to replace the latter within just two races. Now, Tsunoda was expected to start scoring points to enable Milon Keynes’ constructors’ championship chances. However, things aren’t going in the 25-year-old’s favor as he suffers from a massive crash at the Emilia Romagna GP.
Yuki Tsunoda joined Red Bull at the Japanese GP and aimed to start scoring well from the get-go. Although Tsunoda seems comparatively better than Liam Lawson for now, he is still failing to amass any notable results. To make matters worse, he has suffered from his first massive crash with Milton Keynes, which would not be a great highlight on his resume.
During the Q1 qualifying session of the Emilia Romagna GP, Yuki Tsunoda was out on his first fast lap of the session. Heading into Turn 6 of the high-speed circuit, Tsunoda couldn’t balance the rear of his Red Bull chassis. This caused him to spin out and collide very hard into the barriers. The Japanese driver then suffered from a barrel roll in his car as it flipped once in the air.
Yuki Tsunoda thankfully walked out unhurt from the incident and moved away from the scene of the accident. The Japanese driver will also visit the medical center for a detailed checkup. For now, he is likely to sustain a pit-lane start or a P20 start at best as Red Bull rushes into preparing the car for the main race on Sunday.

Fans unhappy with Yuki Tsunoda’s woeful start at Red Bull
In a recent tweet on X, the fans did not hesitate to pinpoint their disappointment with Yuki Tsunoda’s continued problems at Red Bull. In what seemed to be Tsunoda’s redemption at Red Bull, he has failed to score great points since his debut. Without any hesitation, one fan exclaimed that it was high time to take gambles with driver decisions and simply rehire Sergio Perez in the number 2 seat.

Meanwhile, other people showcased their delight on seeing Yuki Tsunoda walking out safely and unhurt from the car. Another fan berated Tsunoda’s woeful form and asserted that Liam Lawson never crashed so badly during his stint at Red Bull. A fan in particular pointed out that the team’s second seat was indeed cursed and that no one could follow up on Max Verstappen’s dominant performances. Some fans labeled the whole incident and the 25-year-old’s walking out unscathed as unbelievable.

Tsunoda’s start at Red Bull has remained seemingly unimpressive. Still, he is giving it his all as Milton Keynes goes through a very tough phase in chassis development. While the Austrian constructor has confirmed that there would be no more driver changes this year, such failing performances could make them reconsider their decision. But for now, the team’s priorities lie in repairing the car and making it perfect for the race tomorrow. The Japanese driver will have to work extremely hard to move up the pecking order, keeping in mind his disappointing start to the race.
