Fernando Alonso has suffered a disappointing weekend at the Emilia Romagna GP so far. The 42-year-old had a heavy crash during the FP3 session which was subsequently red-flagged. Hence, the chassis of the Veteran was under work before the qualifying session. After fixing the challenger, Alonso went off-track in Turn 4 during the out lap. As a result, the Asturian failed to steer clear of the Q1 qualifying session for the main race.
Aston Martin had great hopes of improving results over the Italian weekend after sporting multiple updates to the challenger for the Emilia Romagna GP. The two drivers also showcased promising results during the initial two practice sessions. However, the team suffered from a nightmare Saturday after Fernando Alonso failed to get out of the Q1 session.

The Asturian faced multiple issues with his chassis after crashing during the FP3. Hence, the repaired chassis wasn’t well suited for the 42-year-old. As a result, Alonso could only manage a lap time good enough to end him in plum last at P20. Lance Stroll has since outqualifed the Veteran for the main race. Fernando Alonso would have to push extra hard in order to score any points over the Italian weekend.
Lance is through in P13 to Q2.

Unfortunately it’s a Q1 exit for Fernando, he’s out in P20 after finding the gravel. Shoutout once again to our team for making the session after an extremely tough turn around.#ImolaGP pic.twitter.com/FrRDGBwhbt

Joke of a team for those upgrades lmao. My gullible brain had high hopes but here we are. And ofc we can't expect Stroll to do anything.

Shame for Alonso as I would have been a good way to repay the mechanics but on the upside if the start of the F2 race is anything to go by, he could avoid any coming together.
The Asturian has a lot of work to do to move up the pecking order. As things are, the 42-year-old has crushing hopes of a shot at points contention for the main race of the Emilia Romagna GP. Aston Martin could lose out to Mercedes down the season if such performances keep on continuing. Hence, Silverstone will have to pick the pace up to win the development war against Brackley.
