Fernando Alonso had a strong campaign during the 2023 F1 season. He has started the ongoing campaign on a decent note as well and after renewing his contract with the team recently, Fernando Alonso was asked if the team is developing their challenger around him. However, the Spaniard blatantly discarded the suggestion.
He claimed that both he and his teammate, Lance Stroll are trying to help the team the best they can. Moreover, when it comes to the car, Stroll is a bit more sensitive, which is very helpful.

Alonso and Stroll have very different approaches regarding the development of the car.
I think Lance is a lot more sensitive to things than what I am, which is very important for the team. I think the analysis that Lance can reach and can feed back to the team is crucial to us and to improve the car. I’m a little bit un-sensitive [sic] to things sometimes and this is not a good thing.Fernando Alonso told: Motorsport
The 42-year-old believes that both of them are trying to help Aston Martin in their own way, which is quite helpful. Both drivers have their perspectives on things and this is one aspect that could help the Silverstone-based team immensely going forward.
Fernando Alonso claims signing a contract extension with Aston Martin was ‘very simple’
Recently Fernando Alonso extended his contract with Aston Martin. The Spaniard joined the team in 2023 and has decided to stay with them till the end of 2026.

Alonso has admitted that the Silverstone-based team had shown their desire for him to stay which made it easier for him to make a choice.
We just sat together after Japan and arrived at the conclusion and an agreement was reached in one or two days. It was very, very simple. And once we had the agreement, we announced. Everything is a little bit more simple than looks from the outside.Fernando Alonso via: Planetf1
Aston Martin was quite persistent about keeping the Spanish driver and they managed to do just that. Although Alonso has previously discussed his post-retirement options, he now has additional plans with the team as a result of the contract extension. The 42-year-old driver intends to continue being part of F1 even after his retirement.
