The Lewis Hamilton-produced F1 film starring Brad Pitt took the world by storm. The movie raked in over $500 million in revenue worldwide as it received some highly positive reviews. Although the core F1 viewers and even the drivers had some contrasting opinions about the film, the general consensus remained positive. However, Fernando Alonso now gives an uninteresting statement about the movie and the fans’ reviews of it.

Fernando Alonso is the oldest driver on the current F1 grid and has been racing in the pinnacle of motorsport since the 2001 season, with a hiatus from 2018 to the 2021 season. Alonso found success in the sport early on and won two driver’s titles in the 2005 and 2006 seasons. As such, the 44-year-old knows a great deal about the sport as he also pulled Nico Hulkenberg into the conversation while talking about Lewis Hamilton‘s dream F1 film that was filmed at a massive budget.

Fernando Alonso asserted that neither he nor Nico Hulkenberg cared too much about what the new generation of fans had to think about the sport. Rather, the veteran insisted that he focused on winning races and working with the team to always improve their performances. Alonso has faced a challenging time in the 2025 season with Aston Martin, as he occupies the P11 spot in the standings.

I don’t think Nico or I care too much about what the next-generation fans think. We only try to win races, try to work with our team the best we can, and deliver the performance.

Fernando Alonso said, as reported by RacingNews365

Alonso furthered his comments and emphasized that the fans of the sport, especially the ones pulled in by Lewis Hamilton’s F1 film, were watching the sport on television. As such, they did not have the full picture about the difference in pace and performance of different cars on the grid. Despite a new wave of fans in the sport, the Asturian’s priorities lay in improving his results, and not getting popular among the new gen.

The fans and the people outside watching TV, don’t have the full picture of what is going on and the difference in performance between the cars.

Fernando Alonso further fired shots at the new-gen fans who were not aware of the workings of Formula 1. Since he was losing, they believed him to be past his prime and into his struggling days. Although Alonso was struggling right now, the new fans would immediately change their opinion if he suddenly started winning. Hence, the 44-year-old joked about the fans’ mentality if he or Nico Hulkenberg started winning races and ultimately the championship.

Speaking of the fans’ duality, Fernando Alonso asserted that if he or Hulkenberg were to win eight consecutive races and contend for the championship, they would think that the veterans took some magic pill. Alonso reassured that this wasn’t the reality, and Formula 1 worked completely differently from what was showcased in the theatres.

So, if next year Nico and I have a winning car and we win eight consecutive races and fight for the championship, then they will think that we ate something different in winter or had a different training programme and we learned how to drive in the winter. This is not really the reality.

Fernando Alonso noted

Despite the mixed opinions on the F1 film, it helped bring in a fresh new wave of untapped audiences. Lewis Hamilton’s work will definitely not go unnoticed, even though the F1 drivers had a polarizing opinion on the movie. Hamilton also has some other plans in motion, with a second release of the F1 film also being teased by the directors.
