Formula 1 has been around since the 1950’s and over the years, has seen some prolific drivers when it comes to putting it all on the line in qualifying. F1 stars such as Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are seen by many as one of the best, but Ferrari’s performance coach Jock Clear views Charles Leclerc as the best qualifier in the sport.

Charles Leclerc has been sparking his magic on track since 2018. He joined Ferrari in the following year and has since, stuck with them. Moreover, he is very well known in the F1-verse as a serious qualifier.

Charles has all the credentials to win a world championship, absolutely. I’m saying it since 2018. We worked with him in the Academy, we saw all the right things in all the right stages. He has the pace in qualifying and I honestly think he’s the best driver we’ve seen in qualifying.

On the modern F1 grid, Leclerc is seen by many as one of the best drivers. He has on many occasions taken the fight to Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, in qualifying as well as in race-trim. This is one of the main reasons why Clear is certain that Leclerc will somewhere down the line win the world championship.

Ferrari needs to perform at the ‘level’ of star driver Charles Leclerc

In 2022, Ferrari had a car for a brief period, with which they were able to fight for the world championship. However, during that time, their challenge fizzled out because of various factors.

Since then, the Maranello-based team has been operating in the top three but needs to take extra steps to fully challenge for the championship. Jock Clear feels Ferrari needs to soon start operating at the level of Charles Leclerc.

So when Charles is going to perform at that level, we need to perform at that level with him. And my point when I say confidently ‘yes he is’, when we’re all at that level, I know he will perform at that level.

The 2024 driver’s world championship is out of the reach of the prolific Monegasque driver. But in 2025, things could pan out in the favor of Leclerc if Ferrari does a brilliant job with their challenger.

Moreover, with the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton‘s arrival, they will have the extra impetus to produce an extremely strong weapon for next year. The 2025 F1 season will be an extremely fascinating watch from the point of view of the Ferrari faithful for varied reasons.
