The Ferrari Formula 1 team is in with a strong shot to amass the coveted 2024 constructors’ championship. McLaren is currently leading with 593 points on the board but the Fred Vasseur-led team is not too far behind with 557.

In light of this, Fred Vasseur has made it known that his team will target a truckload of points at next week’s Las Vegas GP. The ongoing campaign has only three Grand Prix’s remaining on the 24-race Formula 1 calendar.

I don’t want to lose some points, I want to make points. We have to do better weekends than this weekend [at Interlagos], but it’s not a drama. We’ll have a much better weekend next race in Vegas and it’s where we’ll have to score the big one.

Vasseur has made it quite clear that his team is going to go gung-ho in the remaining three races. McLaren has been flying with its drivers for quite some time and it is not going to be easy for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to topple the prolific papaya duo.

While Fred Vasseur has asserted the importance of points in the remaining races, he has also specifically talked about Carlos Sainz. Last year, the Spaniard had a painful experience in Las Vegas with the drain cover issue and was not able to showcase his best self throughout the weekend.

However, Vasseur has backed his driver to put on a stellar show this time around.

I’m not worried about this. I think he will be back in Vegas very strong. Last year Vegas was a good example, he started on the wrong side of the weekend last year with the drain cover.

Carlos Sainz is moving to Williams at the end of the year and in light of this, he will be extremely determined to make the most of the remaining races. Since his rival at the start of 2021, the 30-year-old has performed very well alongside Leclerc.

He was the favorite to continue alongside his teammate had Lewis Hamilton not decided to jump ship to Ferrari. Keeping in view everything that has been discussed, Sainz will be one of the main talking points during the remainder of the 2024 F1 season.
