The legendary founder of Ferrari, Enzo Ferrari, once said, Ask a child to draw a car, and certainly he will draw it red. Following this, the Scuderia cannot be imagined racing in any other color than the historical red in the F1 sphere. However, this tradition would change at the Miami GP as the team would be fielding two shades of blue on the SF-24 during the race weekend.
Ferrari are known to carry their Italian pride along with them and proudly paint their racing car red, with an occasional switch up here or there. Surprisingly, this will not be the team’s first time that they would sport blue colors on their challenger. In 1964, after a feud, Enzo Ferrari decided to ditch the red racing paint in preference for white and blue, marking the first time the Maranello-based team left its national colors behind.
However, the team has announced that Blue will return on the next race weekend at Miami as the brand is celebrating its 70th anniversary in North America. This has led to the team incorporating two shades of blue on the SF-24, where Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino would be used.
Moreover, this news has created havoc in the paddock, as such a sight is unseen. Fans and experts would be waiting to see how the shades of blue will be incorporated by the prancing horses in place of the Scarlet red.
Ferrari CEO claims there is a lot of work to be done in the team
In June 2021, Benedetto Vigna was given the position of CEO by the board of directors at the brand. Since then, the F1 team has gone through multiple changes and is in a long-term process of recovering to its old glory. The team since then has been on an upward graph, but the Italian reckons there is still a lot of work done within the team.
Vigna was optimistic about the team’s chances but wanted them to return to the top step again soon.
We started better than last year, but there is still work to be done and there always will be. The team only had one podium this time last year, as well as just one race win all season. The world of competition is like a person's life accelerated to the maximum - things can change quickly, going between good and bad. Stasis does not exist, everything flows quickly.Benedetto Vigna said in an interview with La Repubblica
The 55-year-old was happy with the team’s progress, as he mentioned that the team only had a single win in 2023. In contrast, Ferrari has already scored a win so far and is second in the constructors standings. Such progress has showcased the team to be on the right path and provides faith to Vigna for the future.
Apart from this, the Scuderia is on the verge of finalizing a deal worth $500 million per year. Subsequently, the team has upgrade packages planned for the Imola race weekend. The team would be hoping for positive results from their upgrades to carry their carriage forward in the pecking order after a disappointing Chinese GP weekend.
