Formula 1 resumes this weekend with its 19th race of the season and excitement is in the air as fans gear up for the United States Grand Prix. However, alongside the thrill of competition, the FIA is investigating some serious allegations of rule breaches.
Concerns have been raised about a team’s potential modifications to car components while under parc fermé conditions. Recent discussions between the FIA and several F1 teams have sparked concern over potential adjustments to front bib clearance by an unnamed team.
If true, this could provide a significant advantage by optimizing ride height for both low-fuel qualifying laps and heavier race setups during the race. However, any modifications made during parc fermé would violate F1’s technical regulations. These regulations explicitly prohibit changes to aerodynamic configurations, except for adjustments to the front wing.
The FIA has increased scrutiny at the United States GP in response to these growing suspicions. While they recognize the concerns teams have raised, they haven’t found solid proof that anyone has used this technique. To prevent any unauthorized modifications, the FIA has enforced stricter inspection protocols, ensuring teams cannot make undetected adjustments.
Daniel Ricciardo wishes Liam Lawson good luck after Ricciardo’s dismissal from F1
Liam Lawson will drive for Red Bull (VCARB) in place of Daniel Ricciardo for the last six races of the 2024 season. The 35-year-old struggled with a rough patch and a series of poor performances, leading to his dismissal.
Despite taking his seat, Lawson expressed sympathy for Ricciardo, saying it was tough to see his teammate lose his spot. He spoke to the Australian, who reassured him, saying it wasn’t Lawson’s fault and wished him luck. Ricciardo encouraged the 22-year-old to seize this F1 opportunity and make the most of it.
The upcoming race in Austin will be Lawson’s first F1 race this season. He made his F1 debut last year when Ricciardo fractured his hand. Now, he has full responsibility for the second seat at RB alongside Yuki Tsunoda.
Their performances will determine who drives alongside Max Verstappen next year. Lawson feels the pressure of this important opportunity as he needs to impress both the team and fans.
