Max Verstappen is undoubtedly one of the greatest drivers in recent F1 history. The Dutch driver dominated the sport at the start of the ground-effect era. However, things have become more challenging for the 27-year-old amid Red Bull’s ongoing struggles with rumors emerging that he could leave Milton Keynes. Now, Verstappen’s former team boss, Franz Tost has made a bold claim over the reigning world champion’s capabilities.
Red Bull Racing no longer has the fastest car on the grid. The Austrian team trails behind McLaren in the pecking order. Nevertheless, Max Verstappen managed to win one of the first five races, courtesy of his brilliant performance. He also has a chance of clinching victory in Saudi Arabia if not for the time penalty. As the four-time world champion makes the real difference on-track when it comes to battling at the front of the grid.
Franz Tost asserted that Max Verstappen is a really special driver, someone who is far superior to his peers when it comes to natural speed. The former Toro Rosso boss claimed that Verstappen knew when to use his skills at the right time on-track.
Max is a very special driver who, first of all, is superior to the others in terms of natural speed… he can put his supernatural talent into practice at the decisive moment.
Franz Tost told F1 Insider
Moreover, Tost declared that the reigning world champion was capable of winning in any vehicle, even a tractor. The 69-year-old pointed out that Max Verstappen had the sense of speed and vision which allowed him to extract the maximum pace out of any car he drove.
Verstappen would also win with a tractor… he has a sense for speed, incredible vision, incredible vehicle control and an incredible feeling with any car.

Max Verstappen is currently under contract with Red Bull till at least the end of the 2028 season. Mercedes and Aston Martin are rumored to be the frontrunners in poaching Verstappen from Milton Keynes. The latter was even reported to have offered the F1 star a billion dollar contract.

Franz Tost confessed that if Verstappen were to leave, he would like to see him join Aston Martin. The 69-year-old pointed out that the Silverstone-based team already has aero genius Adrian Newey. Moreover, Aston Martin will also be working closely with Honda next year.
My favorite is the Aston Martin… they have the best man in the automotive sector and the best man in the powertrain industry.

However, Tost asserted that he would wish to see Max Verstappen remain at Red Bull. He insisted that having the reigning world champion was the biggest guarantee of success any team could have in Formula 1.
My wish is that he stays at Red Bull, because he is the guarantor of success, more than any other driver.
Franz Tost explained
Certainly, Max Verstappen’s future at Red Bull remains uncertain for the time being. The four-time world champion has not publicly shown interest in joining any other team.
