Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal, Fred Vasseur has said his team has a good feeling about their performance heading into the Canadian Grand Prix. Ferrari has shown massive improvements in their performance since the last few races of this season.
The Maranello-based team heads into the Montreal weekend looking to continue their good run of form from the race in Monaco, where they managed to win and score a podium each. Charles Leclerc has been in phenomenal form this season, along with Carlos Sainz, both have scored a Grand Prix win.
The simulations run by Ferrari on the track in Montreal show encouraging results, as Fred Vasseur claims the Italian outfit is at par with the pace of Red Bull and McLaren. The Gilles Villeneuve circuit features a series of bumps and kerbs along with challenging braking sections, which will not only test the high-speed prowess of the SF-24 but also its braking abilities.
Montreal is a very fast circuit and we will probably see something different, there are a lot of curbs and a high top speed, but I would say we have a good feeling before Canada.Fred Vasseur via Motorsport.com
Ferrari’s SF-24 has performed at par with the RB20 and MCL38 during the races of Imola, Miami, and Monaco and is likely to be competitive around the Montreal circuit as well. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will hence try to maximize their advantages of having a dependable car around the high-speed circuit in an attempt to add to their tally of wins and podiums in the coming weekend.
Ex-F1 driver suggests Ferrari should not have removed Carlos Sainz
Ex-F1 driver, Ralf Schumacher has spoken in support of Sainz, saying Ferrari should not have removed him. The Spaniard is set to be replaced by Lewis Hamilton next season after Vassseur and co. offered the seven-time world champion driver a Grand contract.
Carlos Sainz was a good number 1.5 at Ferrari. You can't say he was the second driver, because he was on an equal footing with Charles Leclerc. That's why I thought that line-up was extremely good. I don't know who exactly was the brains behind the transfer, but my feeling is that it should have stayed as it was.Ralf Schumacher spoke to Formel1.de
Carlos Sainz has been at Ferrari since the start of the 2021 season and has been a solid driver for them scoring 20 podiums and three race wins. However, Sainz now faces the dilemma of having no specified team to drive for next year, despite rumors of interest from several teams on the grid.
The Maranello-based outfit has been in fine form this season and Carlos Sainz has utilized it to his full potential and continues to perform at the very top of his game. The upcoming races will test Sainz’s abilities further as he tries to find a desirable seat for 2025.
