The Ferrari Formula 1 team is in the deep end of the 2024 constructors’ championship fight against the Woking-based McLaren. Fred Vasseur‘s team is only 21 points behind the papaya going into the final race of the campaign in Abu Dhabi, and amidst this, the Frenchman does not want any distractions.

After last week’s Qatar GP, Fred Vasseur was asked to give his take on the Max Verstappen and Lando Norris‘ respective penalties. However, keeping in view the delicate position of his team in the championship, Vasseur came up with a blatant response.

Now, if you want to comment on yesterday what happened, honestly, I didn’t even see the video yesterday, but it’s into the panel of penalties to put one place of a grid penalty, they can’t do it the same for today. Let me be focused on Abu Dhabi, and I don’t want to start politics now. I try to stay away from all the politics for the season, and I won’t start before the last one.

Looking at the reaction of the Ferrari boss, it is quite clear that his attention is fully focused on helping his team secure the 2024 constructors’ championship. The Maranello-based outfit made a big jump on the papaya in Lusail courtesy of Norris’s 10-second stop-go penalty.

Charles Leclerc looking forward to the ‘exciting’ Abu Dhabi GP

While Fred Vasseur has refrained from talking about the recent happenings in F1, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is very excited ahead of the final race of the season. Leclerc is determined to do the best possible job to help his team amass the constructors’ title for the first time since 2008.

I think we are all very close so I think it’s going to be very tight, but it’s exciting. 21 points is still a lot but everything is possible and we’ll give it our all.

The fight for the constructors’ has remained very close ever since McLaren and Ferrari dropped Verstappen’s Red Bull to P3. However, the papaya outfit still has the advantage going into the final race.

A 21-point gap will not be easy to overcome in Abu Dhabi, but if one of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris ends up fighting toward the south end for some reason, then the championship fight would become wide-open between McLaren and Ferrari. The fans of both sides will be glued to their TV screens all over the world during the 58-lap Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit.
