Formula 1 is an excruciating sport for the drivers while they are battling on the track. They require extensive hours of training to be able to sit in the cockpit of the world’s fastest single-seater challengers. However, despite the difficulty of their own sport, they respect other athletes of other sports as well. In line with this, George Russell has highlighted his three idols from the different categories of sports.

George Russell claimed that he had enormous respect for the soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo. Russell believed that the Portuguese footballer was undoubtedly a leader in his field. Subsequently, the Briton pointed out the tennis legend Novak Djokovic. The 26-year-old believed that these two athletes were fighters who juiced their physical performance to the maximum limit.

I have enormous respect for Cristiano Ronaldo. He is, without a doubt, the leader in his field. The same with Novak Djokovic, they are fighters who demand their physical performance to the maximum.

Additionally, Russell pointed out his Formula 1 teammate Lewis Hamilton, as one of his other favorites. Russell believed that the seven-time world champion made great use of his platform and was admirable for his ventures on and off the track. The 26-year-old hoped to be like one of these three athletes in terms of personality.

Then it is Lewis Hamilton, obviously. He makes great use of his platform and I admire him for that as much as for his victories and what he’s doing off the track. I hope to be one of those leaders in the coming years.

The 18-year-old wonderkid Kimi Antonelli will replace Ferrari-bound Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes in the 2025 season. The prodigy has proven his racing mettle and is ready to take on the challenge of driving at the pinnacle of motorsport. George Russell reckoned that Antonelli’s exceptional pace would keep him on his toes next year.

Kimi’s exceptionally fast and I’ve got no doubt he’s going to be really keeping me on my toes next year, and I’m really looking forward to a new challenge. Three years working with Lewis has been exceptional, but I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can do together from next year onwards.

Mercedes’ current upturn in performance would put forth highly interesting opportunities for Antonelli in 2025. Both Antonelli and Russell would have to work together to ensure that maximum points are achieved. Regardless, the team’s current focus would lie on working hard to improve their position in the pecking order this season.
