Mercedes driver George Russell has shared thoughts ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton‘s last race with Mercedes in Abu Dhabi. Hamilton will depart the Brackley-based outfit to join Ferrari after spending over a decade with the squad.
Lewis Hamilton has etched his name as one of the greatest drivers in the history of Formula 1. During his tenure with the Silver Arrows, the 39-year-old won six championships. Hamilton has not had a good 2024 season so far but has still managed to win twice and amass five podiums.
George Russell has since come out with a heartfelt message via his Instagram for Hamilton ahead of the Abu Dhabi GP. The 26-year-old has conveyed his gratitude for partnering with the championship winner since the 2022 season.
Russell has been in better form than Hamilton this season despite having the same number of wins. He will now seek to continue a fresh legacy with the Brackley-based team alongside the young Italian sensation Andrea Kimi Antonelli from 2025 onwards.
Toto Wolff hits back at Christian Horner over comments surrounding George Russell
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has bashed Red Bull boss Christian Horner for his recent comments against George Russell. Horner reportedly deemed Russell as hysterical for his actions during the Qatar GP.
Toto Wolff has referred to Christian Horner as a yapping terrier for his baseless comments on Russell. Wolff further feels that team principals should not be interfering in matters of drivers’ personal feuds.
Horner and Wolff have been involved in a difference of opinions for a very long time. Both of them ultimately wish for their own teams to perform well and secure more titles. As the sport heads into the final race of the 2024 season, a feisty battle will surely unfold between Mercedes and Red Bull yet again.
