Max Verstappen started the Mexican GP from second place but quickly took the lead at the start. Unfortunately, after a safety car, the Dutch driver found himself battling Lando Norris in third place. The Red Bull driver made contact with his title rival as the two battled it out in Mexico.
Verstappen was handed a 10-second time penalty for pushing Lando Norris off-track in order to defend his position. Moreover, the three-time world champion was handed another 10-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage.
Mercedes informed George Russell about Max Verstappen‘s situation. The British driver gave a rather interesting response. Russell simply expressed his delight with a one word answer to the pit wall. Certainly, the 26-year-old was happy to get ahead of the Dutch driver due to his penalties.

The reigning world champion was far from happy after this receiving news about his second penalty. Max Verstappen pointed out his past incidents with Norris and how that seemed to be fine with the FIA. The Dutch driver found the two penalties in Mexico to be ‘silly.’

Certainly, Max Verstappen now faces much more pressure at the Mexican GP. The 27-year-old will need to stay calm and push himself to the limit to salvage some crucial points against Lando Norris in the battle fr the 2024 world championship. However, this race could be a big blow for the Red Bull driver.
