The Italian-American via his comments, has left no stone unturned in showering immense praise on the Mercedes driver. The W15 has improved in terms of performance, and this is one of the main reasons why the team has amassed consecutive wins, courtesy of Russell and Hamilton.

Mercedes relieved to have managed to ‘hang-on’ to British GP win

While Steiner has deemed Hamilton an absolute rockstar, Mercedes’ Head of Trackside Engineering, Andrew Shovlin has given insights into how tense things were in Silverstone. He has specifically talked about the nervy moments when Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was on a massive charge during the closing stages of the British GP.

Hamilton was able to hold off Verstappen only by a margin of 1.4 seconds.

We know that they’ve got a very quick car, and it was a bit worrying, because after all of the decisions through all the laps of the race, to have lost it in the final moments would have been really horrible. But yeah, just great that we were able to hang on in there.

The 2024 season is 12 rounds down with another 12 remaining on the F1 calendar. Mercedes’ upturn in form has potentially made the constructors championship fight a four-way battle and considering this, it will be fascinating to see how the top four teams would fair in the upcoming races.
