Max Verstappen has dominated Formula 1 in the past two years. The reigning world champion seemed to be in a league of his own compared to the rest of the grid. However, things have changed this season as rivals manage to even outperform Red Bull. Former Haas team boss Guenther Steiner reckoned that the Dutch driver was finally feeling the heat in the title fight.

Steiner claimed that if he was at Red Bull, he would try to calm down Max Verstappen. The Italian-American highlighted that the Dutch driver was feeling the pressure as he faces stiff competition from McLaren and Mercedes. The reigning world champion has gone winless in four consecutive races for the first time since 2020.

I would have tried to calm him because he now feels the pressure.

Moreover, Guenther Steiner reckoned that taking an aggressive approach against Verstappen could upset him further. Steiner claimed that Max Verstappen must now accept that the fact that he would no longer have a dominant car for the rest of the 2024 season.

You always need to think that going aggressive against him would have upset him even more. He now needs to know that he has to live the rest of the season not having the dominant car anymore.

Guenther Steiner asserts Red Bull must’ve talked to Max Verstappen amidst recent struggles

Max Verstappen has faced some difficult times lately. The reigning world champion lashed out on his team during the Hungarian GP over a poor strategy call. Although, things seemed to have calmed down since then. Guenther Steiner reckoned that Verstappen will need to deal with the current situation, and even labeled it as an ‘outburst.’ Although, Steiner believes that Christian Horner and Helmut Marko must’ve discussed the situation with the Dutch driver.

He needs to deal with that and this was an outburst, and I'm sure Christian and Helmut Marko talked with him after the race that what he did wasn't right.
Guenther Steiner stated

Certainly, Guenther Steiner highlighted that Max Verstappen is no longer in the comfort zone regarding the title fight. The former Haas boss asserted that the Dutch driver must understand the situation of the team and work accordingly. However, it remains to be seen how things pan out for Verstappen and Red Bull after the summer break.
