Red Bull senior advisor Helmut Marko has shared his thoughts on the battle for the drivers’ championship this season. McLaren’s Lando Norris and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen are currently fighting it out, with the latter in the lead.
Lando Norris has been a formidable force for the Papayas ever since his win in Miami earlier this year. He has won three races and amassed 11 podiums so far. He has, however, failed to show the grit required to capitalize on opportunities during a race.
Helmut Marko has thereafter backed Max Verstappen to win the title this year as well. The 81-year-old claimed that Norris lacks the mental stability to dominate a championship like the Dutchman.
Norris heads into the last six races of the campaign trailing Verstappen by 52 points. He will nevertheless be hopeful of his team’s pace, which might make the difference to his fortunes.
Andrea Stella says McLaren is grounded despite upsurge in Lando Norris’ performances
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has subsided notions of the team’s possible victory in the title race. The Woking-based team leads the Constructors’ Championship by 41 points currently.
Andrea Stella has urged the Papayas to lay greater emphasis on bringing more speed and power to their MCL38. Stella claims that the team must improve race upon race in order to avoid getting surpassed by others.
The MCL38 has performed well regardless of the circuit or conditions for the better part of the season. The team’s perseverance from this point on could result in a historic triumph for the first time since 1998.
