Red Bull Technical Advisor Helmut Marko has stood behind Max Verstappen during his protest against the FIA in Singapore. Verstappen was earlier reprimanded to serve community service by the FIA for swearing at the press conference.

Max Verstappen along with many other drivers, have criticized the FIA for their unnecessary actions towards the usage of colorful language. The 26-year-old driver even threatened to retire if the current rules do not get amended.

Helmut Marko has thereafter clarified Verstappen’s stance upon swearing at the Singapore GP press conference. He claimed that the Dutchman referred to the car and not a person as a whole during his dialogue.

Yes, that’s not understandable and there are double standards. And on top of that, Max didn’t mean a person. He meant the car, an object, and he did it in a flippant way. Okay, maybe in an afternoon press conference, if it’s all going to be handled so strictly you’ll just take a different approach in the future. But it’s clearly over the top.

Helmut Marko spoke to Motorsport-Total

Marko has deemed the FIA’s punishment immoderate, urging them to adopt a better approach to these issues. The FIA will now consider all the statements before delivering a statement in due time.

Max Verstappen confident of Red Bull’s comeback this season

Red Bull has seen an alarming decline in their performances ever since the Spanish Grand Prix this year. The Milton-Keynes-based team, as a result, has lost the lead of the constructors’ championship to McLaren.

Let’s say we took the wrong direction with the car. Now we are trying to correct it but it takes time, you can’t just flip a switch and fix everything. We are working on it, then we also had bad luck in some episodes in the last races, some unfortunate decisions that compromised the final result. But I know we can do better.

Max Verstappen told Sky Italia

Verstappen called for patience within the team and everyone else on the grid with respect to their performances. He claims that the Milton-Keynes-based team is doing their best to revitalize the RB20 ahead of Austin.

The Dutchman has also said that his team might not be able to revert back to their dominant standards of the previous season. Proper decisions coupled with expert execution and skill will be key to Red Bull’s hopes here on.
