During the practice session ahead of the Sprint qualifying, Red Bull had a decent outing with Verstappen. He managed a third-place finish but despite this, was not very high on the pundits list to secure the Sprint pole position. McLaren’s Lando Norris was tipped to be the favorite, however, to the surprise of many, he managed only a fourth-place finish in SQ3.

Verstappen has the lights of George Russell and Charles Leclerc starting behind him in the Sprint race. From the start, the duo would be eager to makes moves going into Turn 1 at the COTA circuit.

The dash from the lights to the first corner is quite a long one and in this phase, Russell and Leclerc could get the better of Verstappen. From the reigning world champion’s perspective, it will be in his best interest to get the perfect getaway from his P1 grid slot.
