Red Bull has been struggling with poor performances in the past few races. The last four races before the summer break indicated a slowdown in performance for the Milton Keynes team. When the season resumed in Zandvoort, Max Verstappen finished 22 seconds behind Lando Norris, which was shocking. Then, the RB20 faced multiple issues, with the major problem being the car’s balance in Monza. Dr. Helmut Marko claims they need to fix the car before the Azerbaijan GP for Verstappen to showcase his skills.
Helmut Marko in a recent interview mentioned that Red Bull has usually performed well in Baku in past races. The 2023 race saw Sergio Perez emerge victorious. However, this time it’s very important for them to quickly adjust their car to the right balance, as they face issues with it. If Red Bull manage to do this, they should have a better chance of doing well in the Azerbaijan GP compared to their recent performances.
We have always been competitive in Baku, but this time it will be crucial how quickly we get the desired balance back into the car. If we succeed in that, then we should be better positioned for the Azerbaijan GP than recently.Helmut Marko wrote on Speedweek.com
Further, Marko explained that if Red Bull provided Max Verstappen with a car that allows him to compete effectively, his exceptional driving skills will be more noticeable. This would eventually help Red Bull with building on their success and win the constructors cup. Therefore, Verstappen driving a better car is crucial for the team as the title is on the line.
If Verstappen gets a car with which he can fight to some extent, then his exceptional skill will come through better again, on which we may continue to build.Helmut Marko added.
Helmut Marko not ready to give up on Constructors’ title
Helmut Marko pointed out that Red Bull’s lead has decreased to just eight points. However, Marko is not ready to lose hope and give up on winning the championship. He believed that if Max Verstappen starts winning races again, then Sergio Perez only needs to finish between 3rd and 5th place in the remaining races. This would help Red Bull keep their lead and successfully defend their title.
The lead in the constructors' cup has shrunk to eight points. We certainly don't have to write off the manufacturers' titles. Because if Max starts winning again, then placings between 3rd and 5th place for Checo will be enough to successfully defend this title.Helmut Marko stated.
Certainly, Red Bull still hopes to win the championship and plans to provide Verstappen with a car that allows him to dominate once more. Fans are hoping the balance issues get resolved before the next race. Red Bull won in Baku last year and aims to achieve the same result this year.
