As the 2024 season approaches its conclusion, doubts surround Sergio Perez‘s future with Red Bull. Heading into his home race this weekend, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko expresses confidence that Checo will return to his original form.
Last year, Sergio Perez faced disappointment at his home race, retiring after a collision with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. However, this time Marko and the team are optimistic about his performance despite the struggles in 2024.

Helmut Marko highlighted that Perez’s future with Red Bull hinges on his performance. The pressure is on Checo, especially as the team risks losing its second-place standing in the Constructors’ Championship.
McLaren has already overtaken them, with only Max Verstappen consistently delivering results. Ferrari poses a similar threat, while the 34-year-old struggles to regain his form. Rumors suggest that the Milton-Keynes-based team might decide Perez’s future after the Mexican GP.
It’s up to him. he must, and I think he will, return to his usual performance here.
Helmut Marko told ORF
In the 2023 Mexican Grand Prix, Perez showcased his speed by briefly leading the race after a strong start. Despite his promising pace, he faced disappointment as his race ended prematurely due to a collision. Marko emphasized that such performance has led to hopes that he can return to that form in the ongoing weekend, as he aims to regain his competitive edge.
He was briefly in the lead last year, unfortunately only very briefly, but he was fast, and we hope he will be like that again this weekend.
Helmut Marko stated
Helmut Marko believes Ferrari is the ‘most consistent’ team in F1
As the season progresses, Red Bull now faces a greater threat from Ferrari instead of McLaren. The Maranello-based team’s impressive 1-2 finish at the US Grand Prix showcased the significant improvements they made during the autumn break.

Carlos Sainz, who struggled in the previous races, made a strong comeback to finish second in Austin. Charles Leclerc, on his end, secured a sensational triumph. This makes Ferrari the most consistent team currently on the grid.
Helmut Marko emphasized that both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez need to excel in upcoming races. They must finish ahead of the Ferrari drivers to secure the team’s position in the Constructors’ standings.
Ferrari was clearly ahead in Austin. In the previous races, it was McLaren. And before that, Mercedes dominated again in two races. But I think Ferrari is the most consistent at the moment.
Helmut Marko said
With just five races and two sprints left in the season, Red Bull has time to strategize and maintain their lead in the Constructors’ Championship. Achieving at least the second place in the standings is extremely essential for the Austrian team.
