Red Bull Technical Advisor Helmut Marko has laid his insights after the team’s dismal performance at the Italian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen finished P6 at Monza, failing to improve on his poor qualifying run on Saturday.

Things have suddenly gone from bad to worse for Max Verstappen this season. He looked impeccably the strongest during the first 10 races of the campaign, in which he amassed seven wins. But Verstappen has now been winless in the last six races, failing to notch good results.

Helmut Marko has, however, vested complete faith in Verstappen on behalf of the Milton-Keynes-based team. Marko deems the three-time world champion the best driver on the grid, despite his recent shortcomings.

The 26-year-old currently leads the drivers’ championship by 62 points. The remaining races are going to be a stern test for the Dutchman, who will have to get back to winning ways in order to secure his fourth-consecutive F1 title.

Helmut Marko reveals plans to rectify issues within Red Bull’s RB20

Red Bull’s RB20 has been powerless against the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren in the past few races. While Max Verstappen has complained of several issues within the RB20, a solid verdict for improvement still remains to be delivered.

Max recognised on Saturday where the weakness of the car is. Together with the engineers, a decision was made on how to improve the car and make it competitive again. We just need to find out which part made the car worse. If we knew that, we wouldn't be in this situation.

Helmut Marko emphasized the engineers to find lacking specifics within the car which currently hinder its pace and balance. The 81-year-old further exclaimed that the sooner a decision is made, the quicker RB20’s issues will be resolved.

The Milton-Keynes outfit’s struggles have cost them dearly in the constructors’ championship. The team leads second-placed McLaren by only eight points and will thus, have to conjure something magical to come up trumps against them in the remaining races.
