Fernando Alonso has been racing in F1 for more than two decades. His longevity is something that he can be extremely proud of as not many are able to do what he has done. Many F1 drivers don’t have the strength, nor the talent levels to compete at the pinnacle of Motorsport after hitting the 30 year age mark. However, the Spaniard has proved to be a worthy opponent despite his age barrier.
Moreover, this is not the only worth-mentioning thing in his F1 career so far, the Spaniard has won the Championship twice and has amassed quite a decent number of podium finishes. With the help of this piece, we are going to dive deep into the same. Fernando Alonso made his debut in the premium class of motor racing in 2001 and since then, has so far managed to score an impressive 99 podiums in the sport.
There are only a few handfuls of other drivers who have managed to score more podiums than the Spanish maestro. Moreover, with the kind of desire, love, and, passion that Fernando still has for F1, it will not come as a huge surprise if he manages to add quite a few more podiums by the time he decides to call it a day. Fernando Alonso is still extremely competitive in F1 with 99 podiums and counting
By normal racing driver’s standards, people tend to slow down as they get older. However, in Fernando Alonso’s case, things are the opposite. Despite being 41 years old, he still has everything in him to give the young drivers a run for their money. He is an absolute beast whenever he goes out on the track. He does not shy away from going for it when he feels there is a gap to get the better of his rivals. However, his age will catch up to him at some point in the upcoming years.
When that time comes, it would be fascinating to see how he would respond. His die-hard fans would want to see him racing for many more years but after a certain point, the body just doesn’t have the capability to go through the torture of going through corners at high speeds. Considering everything, how long would Fernando Alonso be able to extend his F1 career, and how many more podiums would he be able to add to his total tally in the same period?
