Lewis Hamilton coming off a rough patch

The ground-effect era has been particularly problematic for Lewis Hamilton. The British driver went winless for two seasons, a first in his long and illustrious career. Frustrations continued to grow last season, with the 40-year-old even considering quitting the team.

This could be an alarming factor for Ferrari. The Scuderia enters 2025 after finishing runners-up in last year’s standings. Thus, on paper, Maranello was in no real urgency to replace Carlos Sainz for Hamilton. If the seven-time world champion fails to perform, questions could be raised on the team’s decision.

Nevertheless, there are promising signs for the Prancing Horse. Lewis Hamilton finally ended his winless streak with a fairy tale victory at Silverstone. Moreover, the 40-year-old has shown his desire to clinch a world title with Ferrari, a team he dreamed to race for as a child.

Lewis Hamilton’s switch to the Scuderia is a big move. However, the Briton doesn’t seem to be in the same vigor he was just a few years go. Pressure might come on the seven-time world champion to live up to the high expectations laid down by the Tifosi this year.
