Lewis Hamilton continues to receive massive media attention in recent weeks due to his highly anticipated move to Ferrari. Moreover, the 40-year-old’s performances in his career have caused him to be a favorite of a majority of individuals all over the world. Regardless of Hamilton’s brilliance, Ex-FIA president Jean Todt snubbed the former as his favorite driver in the pinnacle of motorsport.
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will form a highly formidable pair for the Prancing Horse in 2025 and grant the team great success. However, both drivers will also go up against one another and put forth an enticing battle. Leclerc’s dominant qualifying performances will outshine Hamilton’s qualifying struggles and provide a difficult time for the latter.
Due to Leclerc’s superiority in qualifying, Jean Todt didn’t hesitate to place him above Hamilton as his favorite. Todt accepted that his favorite driver was the Monegasque and not the Briton despite the latter’s dominance. Moreover, the 78-year-old claimed that Max Verstappen was currently ‘the best’ driver on the field in recent years.
Jean Todt labeled Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton’s couple as ‘very good’
Lewis Hamilton replaced the Spaniard Carlos Sainz despite the latter’s upturning performances with Ferrari. Sainz and Leclerc formed just as a good couple as Hamilton-Leclerc and didn’t need to be changed.
Jean Todt argued that Ferrari did not lose because of the previous lineup. Moreover, the Frenchman raised uncertainty over the new drivers’ lineup being better than the previous one. Todt made a ‘machine will tell us’ remark upon the question of the team’s situation in 2025.
Ferrari has a great chance of contending for both championships early on, especially because of the rising performance in 2024. The Italian constructor came close to replicating dominant McLaren’s performance and surpassing them for the constructors’ championship. Hence, the coming season will be even better for the Italian constructor following the great drivers’ lineup.
