Sergio Perez has been going through an extremely torrid run during the 2024 F1 season. The campaign is already 14 rounds down and after an initial upward trajectory, everything has gone downhill for the Mexican driver.

Amidst this, the former F1 driver, Jonny Herbert has put the burden of Red Bull’s hopes on Max Verstappen. The Dutchman has been in sublime form and is almost single-handedly leading the Milton-Keynes-based team’s charge from the front.

The pressure on Max is huge, the Red Bull dominance of old has gone. It’s all on his shoulders. You need two drivers to get as many points as you can, if you are not going to win a race as Max has been doing for the past couple of seasons.

Looking at the reaction of the former driver, he has left no stone unturned in letting Verstappen know of the huge responsibility he has on his shoulders. To put things into perspective, the 26-year-old has so far managed a brilliant 277 points in comparison to Sergio Perez‘s 131.

The ‘stars are aligning’ for Max Verstappen’s Mercedes move

While Herbert has let Verstappen know of the huge responsibility on his shoulders this year, he feels the latter could soon be on the move. Since the start of the ongoing campaign, the Dutchman has been linked with a move to Mercedes.

Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff is desperate to get Max Verstappen on his books for the 2025 season. The Brackley-based-outfit has a young prospect in the name of Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

Considering this, the upcoming weeks will be fascinating as to who will ultimately get the coveted seat alongside George Russell for next year. In case, Verstappen lets it known that he wants to move, Wolff and Co. will most probably prefer him over the 17-year-old Antonelli.
