Max Verstappen and Red Bull faced a difficult campaign last year. The Dutch driver managed to clinch the world title despite going winless for four months. While Milton Keynes lost the constructors’ championship. Now, Verstappen’s father Jos Verstappen has voiced his concerns over the upcoming season.

In 2024, Red Bull Racing faced a major setback due to balance issues with the RB20. This allowed McLaren and Ferrari to get ahead of Milton Keynes in the standings. On the other hand, Lando Norris became a real contender for the title against Max Verstappen.

2025 ‘incredibly important’ for Max Verstappen

Jos Verstappen acknowledged that it is unclear how rival teams will perform compared to Red Bull. He highlighted that fans need to wait till pre-season testing to get a clearer picture of the pecking order. The 52-year-old declared that the upcoming season was going to be incredibly important for Max Verstappen. Thus, he hopes that Red Bull will provide his son a capable car to clinch his fifth title in a row.

You do not know how the others are doing, so everything is new. Next week they will test and then you can see a bit of what is happening, but not quite yet either. So it is a matter of waiting and hoping that Red Bull has made a good car, because that is incredibly important for Max.

Jos Verstappen explained

Certainly, Max Verstappen will not be ready to fall back in the pecking order. The reigning world champion will not settle for anything other than winning the title yet again. However, Red Bull will need to ensure that the RB21 can take the fight to the likes of McLaren and Ferrari this year, without struggling from the issues of its predecessor.
