Max Verstappen and Lando Norris put forth one of the most interesting battles for the drivers’ championship in the 2024 season. Both drivers often clashed heads on the track and collided with one another on multiple occasions. However, the two were still good friends with one another and didn’t hold any grudges after Verstappen won the championship.
Jos Verstappen reckoned that Max Verstappen and Lando Norris being good friends with one another after the championship battle was difficult. The reason for this was the world title being at stake between the two drivers. Moreover, Verstappen Sr. believed that his son was aware of the championship battle taking a hit on personal relationships and hence was easygoing about it.
The 52-year-old was confident that Verstappen was aware of the dividing line between mutual relationship and the differences on and off the track. The Dutchman was ‘very mature’ while tackling the challenges posed by the sport on friendships.
Max Verstappen not ‘much different’ from Jos Verstappen
Jos Verstappen and Max Verstappen both have a similar personality of being cold and straightforward on the track. Verstappen Sr. reckoned that he didn’t need to give his opinion about things to his son as the latter already knew about it. However, the 52-year-old believed that he didn’t have to comment much as the two weren’t much different from one another. The Dutchman highlighted that his son was more neat, calm, and balanced than his father.
The 2024 season showcased the difference in mentality and racecraft between Verstappen and the rivals. The 27-year-old kept up with performances despite facing massive struggles in performance with the Red Bull chassis. Hence, the reigning world champion will aim to put forth similar if not better results in the coming season to keep up with the championship-winning streak.
